The Coating Society of the Houston Area was established in 1956 as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the purpose of promoting education and best practices in corrosion control and to expand the knowledge and proper use of protective coatings to mitigate the effects or corrosion in industry.
Today the members of the Coating Society include persons and companies doing business in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana that are involved in corrosion control and corrosion prevention. Membership consists of facility owners, coating applicators, coating inspectors, coating manufacturers, coatings equipment suppliers and other related services. How you can become a member.
What We Do
The primary objective of the Coating Society is to act as a conduit for exchanging ideas, experiences, and best practices for the prevention, control and mitigation of the effects and damage caused by corrosion related issues and promote understanding by owners, suppliers, and contractors through their mutual interests.
At the end of each calendar year the Coating Society distributes excess proceeds to local candidates in the form of academic and non-academic scholarships and awards. In the past 5 years we have awarded over 50 academic scholarships totaling over $60,000 and last year, in partnership with the NACE foundation, allocated an additional $10,000 for industry specific scholarships.
How We Do It
The Coating Society holds regular membership meetings on the first Thursday of each month of the year except June, July, August and December.
